Travel postcards from Düsseldorf 🎨
Rhine flows through this city like an empress. The skyline does not demand attention. No wonder why people shine like jewels. I love how such cities silently shape happier minds. This one is from an evening when I was hitting a breaking point. Just then bumped into a bunch of some fab people who turned my evening to gold.
This one is from an evening spent by a cafe window overlooking Renaissance facades when coffee wasn’t doing its magic. So the moleskine came to rescue. Sketching window views has become a deep relaxant. Also, Düsseldorf’s plazas have just the right tempo in summers - not too loud, not too fast.
The roads flow into plazas, history flows into contemporary stories, Norman churches flow into modern concrete. I like such melting pots. This one is from the first day when I landed there and started to feel so warm in a new city. It takes great urban design for people to feel at home in a new place.
In praise of cobbled streets: they play host for uninterrupted conversations, cultural exchanges, beer bases and great walks. Also, that feeling of car-less-ness is addictive :) This one is from a lazy Sunday noon from a cafe that said ‘Beer is cheaper than therapy’
